How many people asked you “did you have the winner”, regarding The Kentucky Derby. Did you answer, “which one?”
Received a call yesterday from a woman whom I had a date with some time ago. Her first words, after “hi RT,” were, “do you remember me?” I replied, “oh, yes ma’am, how can I forget YOU?” The backstory is, when I arrived to meet her, I brought my phone in. This is something I never do; however, I was expecting a call from a client who was in Paris. When we did the usual handshake, nice to meet you finally, rhetoric, I explained to her that I was expecting a call on Viber (an app similar to Whatsapp where you can send and receive calls from other users for free) and when it comes in, I’ll have to take it and it won’t be long. Within minutes, the phone rings, I excuse myself and go outside to talk. When I returned, I, again, apologized and sat down. Instantly, I inquired if she had Viber and she replied, “no, I use my hand.”
How can anyone forget her?

4 – Party In The Raine (5/2) we’ll see how the track plays with the recent, continuous rains. Going with John Davila, Jr. in the irons in this one – he’s a 50% winner thus far this meet. Party has been a kept woman since November and has woken up with solid workouts of late. Finger Lakes’ track lover going 4:2-1-0 and she comes out of Tobasco Cat, a rock-n-roller in sprints.
5 – My Victoria Rose (1/1) this is going to be a two horse race and Vicky just scored an allowance win at Aqueduct on April 19. Trainer Engelhart and Jockey Sanchez breezin’ along at a 30% win clip.

2 – She’saprettylady (8/5) a couple of years ago, I was chatting with a woman on match, okc, or pof . . .or one of those sites, and I took off to Europe for some time. After being home for a few days, I reconnected with her on the site and said hi. Her first words were . . . “so, circlin’ back around?” That was hilarious. Applicable story with the connections of this filly circlin’ back around to get their original trainer back. This filly gets a big class drop today, which was a lesson from Big Rich in my early years. Regardless of how the horse ran, my father always used to put a big circle around the last race of the horse who was taking the biggest class drop (I doubt Andy Beyer even knew what a horse was back then). His logic was to find out why the drop and that modus operandi still warrants merit. In this filly’s case, her race two back was a state restricted $25K claimer that she won. The connections moved her up in class and she ended up being eased. This was in January and since She’s returned to training, her two workouts were of interest – the first being a 3F in :35.6, nice. The second was another 3f going :38.8. Believing the latter was intentional to keep her focused on the totality of distance, my money is on her.
Contenders: 1 – Tenacious Rose (3/1), 6 – Flamingo Chick (8/1).

3) 4 – Our Pedroia (15/1) another ‘circlin’back-around” horse as trainer Molly Hilenbrant takes this gelding back. Showed good signs last out and is a shot at 15-1
4) 1 or 1A – Taynted Lover and/or Catalodge (1-1) “you take Sarah, I’ll take Sue; there ain’t no difference between the two.” Either or both can win.
5) 6 – Ogeechee (1-1) he’ll easily get his third win-in-a-row
8) 7 – Miss Lily B (7/2) Going with Davila/Englehart to close out the day
