Thoroughbreds: Can McMudder keep his winning ways going Tuesday at Parx?

It’s a beautiful day for racing. Post time 12:55 pm.

Fast and the winds have subsided. The last few days have been all about handicapping to track bias with the rains and winds. Today should get back to seeing the track play more fair across the entire fields and that usually means a return to more chalk. Therefore, today’s entire focus is on bringing in one or two longshots so you get some return on your investment.

Picks for April 16, 2019:
Fast and beautiful. Perfect racing weather.

Parx Race 1
Maidens at this level are always tough and the fact that much of the field has been at this for a while makes it all the more difficult. 6-Royal Melbourne is the pick here as he seems to have finally woken up out of a long sleep. The last race was pretty good and Dexter Haddock, who seems to get the best from this one, climbs on board again. The low percentage barn and the advanced age will keep punters away but in this field, he is the most progressive. 3-Trust the Process stands a chance to be greatly improved after the long layoff and change of trainers but this one may need a race or two. Throw the favorite, 5-Ami’s Artie into the exotics for some coverage since the turf try last out is a throw away race.
$10 W/P/S 6-Royal Mebourne

$1 Trifecta box 3,5,6

Parx Race 2
Not much separates these and the right angle is to go to the dropper with the longest odds. On the M/L that is 6-Congressional Storm who comes in here off of decent efforts at higher levels and won at twice this level 4 back. Her price should come down but the 9-year-old will keep many punters away. The key will be to get first run at 3-Bon Heir who appears to be the speed here. If speed holds in the first, look for these two to be 1-2 in the second.

Mick’s Quick Picks

Parx Race 3: 1-Cape May Style is the obvious play if the 5/2 M/L sticks. That is a gift any time it is Frankie Pennington riding for Butch Reid. 63% win combo.

Parx Race 4: If 4-Silver Excess bounces off of her huge race last out, who picks up the pieces? Look for 5-Anissa to fill that role.
