Races at Parx
Hopefully a return to a more normal track at Parx for the next few days. The warmer weather should allow the track to be harrowed deeper taking away the extremely fast track that appeared on Saturday. A little more depth in the track should allow more closers to get up and a return to the form from two weeks ago. It still appears that horses with good stalking positions and cover if the winds increase will be well positioned for success.
Picks for February 4, 2019:
Not as cold and dry but with lots of sun and warm temperature should make for a nice day.
Parx Race 1
$25K n2 for older boys at 6f. 3-Cardcounter is a suspect M/L favorite. Why drop a horse that ran a cracker in allowance company last time into a claiming race unless you want him gone. The claim box at Parx has been so busy that they may need an intercom system for the shakes. Instead, look at 2-Flashonforty, a hard trier that steps up in class in his second race off the claim. Best part of the deal, trainer Bobbi Hawthorne wins at 29% second off the claim (although it is a small sample set )
$10 W/P/S 2-Flashonforty
Parx Race 6
First level allowance for older fillies and mares at 8f 70 yds. Several in here are on career best form cycles including 2-Hola Princess, 4-Caramel Cream, and 5-Abuala Loca but the only one of those that has done it on a fast track is 2-Hola Princess. She is first off of the claim for owner Jack Armstrong and trainer Bob Mosco, a combination that is finding its way to the winner’s circle with great frequency right now. The concern would be 4-Friday Mass, the horse LA Rodriguez Castro chose to ride in here after winning last out on 2-Hola Princess.
$10 W/P/S 2-Hola Princess
And now for a quickie . . .
Parx Race 9
$8K 2 turn claimer for older fillies and mares. Many of these struggle to see this distance out so looking for the most consistent in here and landing on 9-Midnight Bounty. She is taking the drop out of the race won last out by Hola Princess.
