Golf fans, welcome back and Happy early 4th of July! We are going to have an exciting tournament to watch all weekend and I can’t wait! We are headed to TPC Deere Run for the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois.
The Course
The course has plenty of wide fairways for these players to avoid the rough, but if they do, they will need to be sharp on getting out to leave good approach shots to these greens.
The greens are on the smaller side on tour but are approachable as we have seen very high scores here in the past. They are expecting possible precipitation this weekend, which could play a vital role in how these players attack the greens.
Back To The Well With Aaron Rai
After his run in last weekend’s tournament, Aaron has now finished inside the top 40 in 6 straight events! He has also finished top 20 in his last 3 events. With his current form it is difficult to stay away from him in this week's rather weak field.
In strokes gained, Rai ranks 8th in strokes gained total, 28th off the tee, and 6th in approach to green. His accuracy off the tee, ranking 7th on tour, is going to play a vital role this week.
He ranks 2nd on tour in greens in regulation, 20th in proximity, 20th in scrambling, and 6th in scoring average. He is primed for another great run!

Davis Thompson Is Poised For A Great Finish
Thompson has been in amazing form as of late, finishing top 30 in 3 straight! Over his last 8 events, he has finished top 30 in 6 of them while missing the cut in 2. The only risk here is if he misses the cut, if he makes it in, he should have a good shot to contend.
Davis ranks 15h in strokes gained total, 25th in approach to green, 11th in scoring average, 25th in greens in regulation, and 38th in putting. He has the form and abilities to navigate this course once again.
Last year he finished T31, and if he drives with accuracy, leaving himself in good positions, he should finish better than last year!
I Will Bite On The Favorite
As of writing this Sungjae Im is the current odds leader to win this event. There are a lot of previous winners in the hunt, and I do not believe he will get that done. I do believe he will find himself in a great position come the weekend to make a run at it.
On non-major courses, he has been on fire! Finishing top 10 in 4 straight and top 15 in 5. He has shown a masterclass in scoring ability, and I believe with the high scores this course usually yields, he is the perfect player to back scoring birdies against the field.
Im ranks 40th in strokes gained total and 27th off the tee, while ranking 37th in birdie average. With his strong game around the green and his putter seemingly on fire, he has a great chance to go low here yet again.
Have an amazing 4th of July everyone!
