The Rivers competition marks the return of poker tournaments to the Philly-area casino-gaming scene.

The latest step toward a return to pre-pandemic life in the region’s gambling dens is set for June 27. That’s the day Rivers Casino Philadelphia is hosting what it’s calling the “Welcome Back” poker tournament.

The contest begins at 11:15 a.m. and has a big blind/ante format with 20-minute levels and unlimited re-entries. The entry fee is $240 with starting stacks pegged at 20K. There’s a guaranteed prize pool of $20,000.

That same day, the Rivers poker parlor will be running a high-hand promotion. Between 2 p.m. and midnight, the best cash-game hand every half hour will win a not-too-shabby $500.

More Hard Rock dates announced

Hard Rock Hotel Casino Atlantic City continues to make up for lost time with news of 10 more headliner dates, all of which are now on sale.

The Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena bookings are: Darius Rucker (June 26); Counting Crows (Aug. 7); Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons (Aug. 13 and 14) and Earth, Wind & Fire (Dec 3 and 4).

The new Sound Waves dates are: Joe Gatto (July 30); Bell Biv DeVoe (Aug. 27); O.A.R (Aug. 28); En Vogue (Sept. 10); The Psychedelic Furs (Nov. 12) and Pasquale Esposito (Dec. 4).

Honky tonkin’ at Live! Pittsburgh

Today’s the day Live! Casino Pittsburgh opens the doors to the country-music-themed PBR Pittsburgh.

Located next to Sports & Social Steel City, the 4,560-square-foot bar-restaurant-music venue bearing the imprimatur of the Professional Bull Riders organization,

features line dancing, specialty-themed Friday nights, midnight military salutes, private VIP booths and the region’s only professionally endorsed mechanical riding bull.

“There is nothing like PBR Pittsburgh in the area,” said Live! Casino General Manager Sean Sullivan. “We’re eager to see our guests kick up their heels, listen to live country music and tackle the infamous mechanical riding bull during a fun night out.

“PBR country bar is one not to be missed and adds another diverse offering of best-in-class experiences for our guests.”
