MONDAY’S SINGLE DIGITS

>>> In case you turned your TV off after the Bruins took a 3-0 lead in the third period Sunday night, you missed this gem from broadcaster Mike Emrick:

The third Boston goal was scored by Karson Kuhlman, who became the 21st Bruins to score in these playoffs, tying the 1987 Flyers for most players to score during a single playoff season.

The final Flyer to score that postseason was J.J. Daigneault, whose slap shot with 5:32 remaining in the Game 6 Finals sent the series back to Edmonton and might have spurred the loudest Flyers moment in the history of the Spectrum.

But the coolest thing about this is that you can find clips on that goal with play-by-play from both Gene Hart (PRISM) and the aforementioned Mike Emrick (ESPN).

That should help kill a few minutes on a rainy Monday.

And if you happened to have been at the game on that May 28 Thursday, you may remember it for the traffic. Seems a little band called Genesis was playing Veterans Stadium at the same time the Flyers and Oilers were battling across the street at the Spectrum.

>>> The Bruins, by the way, kept two impressive postseason streaks alive with the Sunday night victory:

> They are now 13-0 when leading after two periods.
> They are 4-0 in road games when trailing in the series.

>>> The Phillies’ 4-2 loss to the Reds Sunday marked the third time in two weeks they failed to put the finishing touches on a sweep. They dropped a 9-1 decision May 26 after winning the first two games in Milwaukee and fell 5-3 to the visiting Cardinals four days later after a pair of wins.

>>> Before Rhys Hoskins knocked in a pair of runs with a pop fly single that dropped amongst the Reds’ infielders in the third inning Sunday, he had registered exactly one RBI over his previous 12 games.
