Have you looked at the NHL standings lately? Tampa Bay has 94 points; no other team has as many as 80. They already have more wins this season (45) than 19 teams finished with last season -- and it is only mid-Feburary.
Now here come the Flyers, 12-1-1 since Jan. 14, only slightly better than Tampa’s 10-2-2 in that time frame. The difference is the Lightning’ great play extends back well before then.
Tampa has scored 30 goals in its last six games, the Flyers 21 in their last five. And get this -- in their 99 previous regular season match-ups (dating back to 1993), the Flyers and Lightning have combined to average 6.02 goals a game. That’s a historic ton!
Really sounds like the Over is calling, but let’s make it even more interesting than usual and go not only for the 60-Minute O/U, but each period also. (Our brain very well may have been over-influenced by the 9-3-3 put up by the Blackhawks and Senators Monday, but let’s take the shot anyway.)
