College Basketball Betting Guide for Tuesday, March 12

Our best bets for Tuesday night include 2 player prop unders and the NC State team total over 78.5.

Happy Tuesday, fellow bettors! Before we get into today’s college hoops card, we want to officially welcome North Carolina sports bettors to the party. If you are looking for advice on how to put those lucrative signup bonuses to work, we've got you covered!

Today begins two of the best weeks on the sports betting calendar. College basketball will be on TV from literally 11 am to past midnight for the next several days. If you need help finding value on today’s board, you’ve come to the right place.

In this Bettors Insider exclusive, we’ll give out 2 college basketball player props and our best bet for Tuesday night.

Mason Madsen (BC) Under 12.5 Points (-140) (DraftKings)

Faithful readers of our column know that we typically like to kick things off with a scary Under just to get the betting juices flowing. Madsen is a dangerous three-point shooter for the Golden Eagles, but his median point total this season is just 7. Even with the higher juice, that still leaves us enough meat on the bone to take the Under.

The Under has cashed against this point total in 24 of Madsen’s 31 ball games during the ‘23-24 campaign. The 6’4” senior guard has also scored 12 points or less in 4 straight outings for BC.

Throw in the fact that Madsen has stayed under this total in 11 of his 15 road/neutral games and you can easily see why we’re taking the under!

Mitchell Saxen (St. Mary’s) Under 12.5 Points (+100) (BetMGM)

Saxen has gone over this total the last 2 times he’s faced Gonzaga, which makes this one a tough wager to make. Even still, a ton of the meaningful metrics favor an Under in this spot for Saxen. First and foremost, Saxen’s median point total is just 11 this season.

The 6’10” center has scored 12 points or fewer in 22 of his 32 contests this year. Current form is also in our favor, as Saxen has stayed under this price in 8 of his last 12 outings. Saxen will also be guarded by Graham Ike and Ben Gregg, who are two solid defenders for the Zags.

Speaking of the Gonzaga defense, they rank 13th at defending 2-point shots and 24th in defensive efficiency. This should be a heck of a game to watch and we like Saxen to stay Under this point total.

Best Bet: NC State Team Total Over 78.5 (-125) (DraftKings)

In honor of North Carolina going live with sports betting, we’ve decided to make our best bet on the North Carolina State Wolfpack. This NC State team loves to push the pace, as they rank 49th in the nation at field goal attempts per game (61.5). The Pack shouldn’t have any trouble scoring against this awful Louisville defense.

The Cards are one of the worst teams in the country in defensive efficiency (343rd) and 3-point defense (346th). Louisville gave up 89 points on their home floor against this same NC State team back on January 13th of this year. Wolfpack fans are a little worried about the health of DJ Horne, but he looked pretty good during yesterday’s shoot-around.

If Horne plays as we expect him to, NC State should comfortably get into the 80s in this one. Even if Horne can’t go, guys like Jayden Taylor and DJ Burns Jr. are more than capable of carrying the load. The Wolfpack have gone over their team total in 19 of their 32 games this season.
