NFL fans are gearing up for the Thursday Night Football battle between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, but college football fans might be watching a different game that night. ESPN is hosting a matchup of Rice and Charlotte. Rice and Charlotte certainly aren’t ranked, but they are two teams with plenty of history between them.
Rice is only a 2.5-point favorite, so this should be a strong back-and-forth battle for fans to tune into if they aren’t interested in what should be a beatdown of the Dolphins by the Bills.
With that in mind, we’ve put together our favorite player props from this one, all of which are found on Underdog. Let’s get into it!
A lot of people might look at Connor Harrell’s 382-yard performance from last week and excitedly take his passing yardage over in this one. We’re not falling into that trap, especially since his opponent from last week, Monmouth, has allowed every quarterback they’ve faced to have at least 225 yards.
Their secondary is leaky, which cannot be said about Rice’s defense. We think Harrell will come back down to earth in this game, finishing with closer to 150 passing yards to hit the under in this spot.
It might seem crazy that a collegiate quarterback has a line of less than 90 passing yards, but Chase Jenkins hasn’t exactly inspired confidence to this point in the season.
He has yet to achieve the 100-yard mark in three games, with his best performance coming last week, when he threw for 87 yards against Prairie View A&M.
We can’t trust the sophomore QB until he figures out how to handle collegiate defenses, so we’re riding with his under until further notice.
It’s a week chalk-full of unders for us, as we’re fading CJ Stokes in this game. Stokes hasn’t been incredibly efficient on the ground, despite being one of Charlotte’s best running backs.
He’s averaging just three yards per carry on the year, putting up 40 yards last week and seven the week before. He hasn’t shown that he’s a consistent back, so we’re riding with the under in this spot as well, wanting to see it to believe it before having confidence in him moving forward.
