I hope everyone is enjoying their Cinco de Mayo. Just remember not to drink and bet. Well, maybe a beer doesn’t hurt…
Another 2-1 day yesterday thanks to my very accurate determination of how Zack Greinke would perform against the Yankees. It seems most days are 2-1 so let’s see if you can figure out which is which today.
Luis Garcia takes the bump for the Astros at Yankees Stadium, and given their current win streak he has every reason to be scared about this lineup. I don’t think he’s going to win. That said, I am confident in his ability to get strikeouts. FanDuel is offering a nice +162 on over 5.5 K and I think he’ll get closer to 7 – so that’s pick #1.
Philadelphia needs Chase Anderson to step up tonight but I don’t like where he stands on strikeouts enough for me to pick him. Instead, I want to look at Freddy Peralta because he’s on my favorite list of K pitchers today. In 28 innings he’s gotten 45 Ks! What I like is that Milwaukee is trusting him out there to throw almost 100 pitches a game. As he’s getting more efficient, his K rate is going up. He’s thrown 7K/game for his last 3 starts and they’ve decided to put the line at 7.5 – it’s never easy, is it? To quote Queen, I think he’s ‘Ready Freddy’ and will hit the over. Best I’m seeing out there is FanDuel with a -102 in the books.
It’s Shane Bieber day! I’m going to try and pick every Bieber game for the rest of the season – not that I need a reason to watch his games but putting a little something on them makes it more enjoyable. Kansas City doesn’t strike out as much as some of the other teams he’s faced lately, but he did K 12 over 6.1 innings the last time he faced them. The oddsmakers have set the over/under at 9.5 and while I don’t expect him to get the same dirty dozen as last time, I think it will be over that. FanDuel is offering a nice juicy +110 and I’ll take it.
I do try to shop my picks around to get the best odds out there – today that meant 3 straight with the folks at FanDuel – maybe someone out there can get me sponsored?
