God's Tipster's Friday Aqueduct Pick: The 7th features 3yos bred in New York and we've got a Mighty longshot

Gulfstream Park:
Race 1: 3rd@ 1.30/1
Race 5: 3rd@ 4.90/1

We actually had some rain to start the day at Gulfstream so all three of our turf races were been washed off to polytrack. In Race 1, Gurly the Butcher was well back early and rallied for third on the surface switch. In Race 5, Broken Spur led early on the surface switch and had the lead til midstretch when he was passed by two rivals. In Race 9 Charleston Way stalked early on the surface switch to polytrack. She got shuffled back on the far turn but came with a flying finish for a fitting 12/1 second place finish to close out the day.
Gulfstream’s turf races will probably end up getting pushed to polytrack again so I’m taking a trip up north to trusty Aqueduct to put a bow around the month of March and leave it in our rear view mirror. We do have some rain in the forecast for New York on Friday as well but with no turf races carded yet the fields won’t be impacted. Let’s get started!
Aqueduct:
Race 7: Mighty Atlas - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)
This is a fun little allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds bred in New York. Our 1/1 morning line favorite is Nineteen Oysters who earned a blowout victory in his debut race. I’m taking a stand against him today because not only is he stretching out to a longer distance but that blowout victory was earned after the two heavy favorites battled one another into defeat. Mighty Atlas is one who may slip under the radar here because his speed figures aren’t as high as a few of these but that last effort on Oct. 27 was a stronger race than his speed figure gives him credit for. Six runners have returned since that effort and improved their speed figures an average of a whopping 26 points! Visually that race was impressive as well as he was hung wide for most of the trip, moved a bit early but sustained his run to win at today’s one mile distance. Trainer Tom Morley is 3 for 12 (25%) over the last 30 days with an average payoff of $31.43 and an in the money percentage of 67%. First time Lasix and recently gelded, this son of Unified is out of a Grade 3 placed dam. I wouldn’t underestimate this guy. Certainly not at 20/1.
